New York Islanders At Carolina Hurricanes

Day three of the NHL playoffs is set to kick off in a bit, and boy has it already been a wild start. With Edmington and Dallas losing Monday night, and then the Lightning, Jets, and the Kraken all winning last night, it seems like we are in for a great 1st round of games. 

Tonight we are looking at the first game of the night, which is between the Islanders and the Canes. This series to me is going to be extremely close, and honestly I think a coin flip of who's going to win. I have two plays for tonight's game so let's get into it. The first pick for tonight's matchup is the under 5.5, I think with the way these two teams play defensively this series should in general be a low scoring affair. With Ilya being elite in goal for the Islanders, and a Hurricanes team who for the most part have been solid on defense  for the season I think the under for this series is a bet to ride. The other factor is its playoffs, the referees in general are going to be calling power plays at a much lower rate than in regular season games. Less power plays simply means less goal scoring opportunities especially when it comes to two teams who already are stingy on letting up goals. The second play I have is a little more risky especially with this team being the away team, but I'm going with the Islanders moneyline. I think the Islanders got unlucky last game, and with Mathew Barzal back they should be able to improve on their offensive output. And on the other hand if Islanders moneyline isn’t risky enough for you, feel free to go ahead and lay them together. Those are my official picks for the game, and I’m looking forward to an exciting matchup between these two gritty teams tonight.
