Penguins at Avalanche

The Penguins face off against the Avalanche this evening in Colorado. The Penguins have lost their last four games, twice to the Rangers, once to the Senators, and once to the God-awful Canadiens. The Avalanche on the other hand has won their last 6 games convincingly. They are making a push to be a higher seed in the playoffs and doing so convincingly. With how cold the Penguins have been and how hot the Avalanche have been this seems like an easy ML pick with great value, but I have some other stats and thoughts on this matchup.

The Penguins are only +130 underdogs even though they haven’t won in about two weeks and the Avalanche can’t lose. The over for this matchup is set at 6.5 and neither of these teams have hit an over in their last two games. The Matchup in net tonight is most likely going to be between the top goalies on each team, Tristan Jarry and Alexandar Georgiev. These two goalies have both been great this season and there is no reason that puck should be going in the net much tonight. So, inevitably, it will. There are many picks I’m about to say that most people you know won’t agree with, but here we go anyways.

The Penguins have been shit and the Avalanche have been very good. Both the teams haven’t hit the over recently and teams have had a tough time scoring against their respective goal keepers. So, were taking the opposites.

Hammer: Penguins ML +130

Hammer: o6.5 -105
