Capitals at rangers
Tonight, the Washington Capitals face off against the New York Rangers as the Caps try to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Capitals are 2-1-2 in the month of March and they are looking to make a statement with a win tonight against their divisional rival. The Rangers currently sit in third place in the Metropolitan division and are 6 pts ahead of the Penguins who are in fourth. The Rangers are also a playoff team at the moment and are looking to cement their spot in their search for another Stanley Cup.
The Capitals have won the last two matchups between the two sides with a 4-0 win in December and a 6-3 win in February. But, this season, the Rangers have easily been the better side with their consistency and stout defensive play. The goalie play from Igor Shesterkin has been outstanding especially at home this year as he sits with a record of 29-11-7. Darcy Kuemper has been alright for the Caps with a 20-20-5 record and 2.71 goals against per game. I do believe that Shesterkin is going to outperform Kuemper in this one though.
I have a love/hate relationship with the Capitals this season. On the one hand they are my favorite team as I’m from the DC area. On the other hand, they always do the exact opposite of what I bet on. It’s actually getting impressive how many bets I can lose on a single team this year. But putting that aside, I have some pretty bold predictions for this matchup. And all I can say is that I’m hoping it is a close one.
