Islanders at capitals
The Washington Capitals are facing off at home tonight against the New York Islanders in a battle of the Metro division. The Islanders are currently in a wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference and are looking to keep their spot as the race is tightening up towards the end of the season. The Islanders are 9 points ahead of the Capitals at the moment, but with a win tonight the Capitals could be within striking distance of the Penguins who are in the last wildcard spot in the East. With the playoffs approaching rapidly, every point matters in the playoff race so this matchup is sure to be exciting.
The Capitals have been ice cold lately and have lost 7 out of the last 10 of their games. In this time span they have averaged 3.9 goals against per game. The Islanders on the other hand have been pretty good in their last ten game where they have won 6 out of their last 10. Their defense is by far the best part of their game as they have held teams like the Maple Leafs and the Devils to one goal. Their goalie Sorokin is also only averaging 2.38 goals against per game and has a 92.3% save percentage. The Islanders have not been letting very many goals in this season, but the Capitals have dicked them down twice.
The Caps beat the Islanders twice so far this year both in New York. This is the first of two games that the two will be playing in Washington this season and you know what they say… It’s very hard to beat the same team thrice. Hammer: Islanders ML Sprinkle: Correct Score: Islanders 3 Capitals 1 - Jacob
