Sharks at Oilers
This game tonight between the Edmonton Oilers and the San Jose Sharks should be an absolute bludgeoning. The Sharks were the first team eliminated from playoff contention and are the worst team in the NHL with a record of 19-37-14. The Oilers on the other hand are fighting for their spot that they hold in the playoffs, and they have a record of 39-23-8. There are a lot of things that I can say about this game, but first let’s look at some stats.
The Oilers have won their last five matchups against the San Jose Sharks with four of these five wins coming by two goals or more. Three out of the five of these matchups have also hit the over with the Oilers coving the most recent matchup by themselves. The Sharks have lost each of their last five games while the Oilers have won 4 of their last 5. The only thing that the Sharks have going for them is that the Oilers are starting Jack Campbell in goal tonight instead of Stuart Skinner. Campbell allows 3.57 gpg while Skinner only allows 2.9 gpg. The Oilers are probably just trying to give Skinner some rest since the Sharks are shit and have nothing to play for.
I don’t think this game is an extremely hard one to pick. Between the backup goalie for the Oilers and the inability to play hockey by the Sharks on both ends of the ice, there are a couple of plays that I love.
